Brasshat the moderator of the OffshoreDiverForum posted the following thread after he deleted 2 popular threads on the forum. I have highlighted several key statements by Mr. Brasshat. Below the post is an email between Brasshat and Connie Morgan, the email was entered as evidence against me by Kirby Morgan Dive Systems, Inc. attorneys in their lawsuit. ~Mike Carson

Been always checking out other forum type boards on the internet. Frank, the sticky thing is a good idea and I've seen some forum software that can do that. Unfortunately or I'm too stupid to figure it out, but this one can't do it and collapse the entire thread until you click on it. Stickies here would take up pages of space. And, with other board software, the rest of the board is different too. More compartmentalized. I can only speak for myself, but I like the free-flow structure of this forum. It's more like a continuous conversation than anything else. I'm sure that also contributes to the morons who, like you say, forget this isn't the back deck of a four point. But honestly, I kind of like it that way. The Diver's Forum isn't meant to entertain the suits or the wannabes. It's meant for us; the divers. Some of our brothers get out of control sometimes but so long as it gets policed up, I don't see that as a huge big deal. There'll be dickheads.

We ain't done any banning around here in a long time. Don't aim to, either. But will happily oblige any non-stop butt heads that come along. (Except Carson)

Moderators - Excellent idea. ITMouse has been the only other moderator on here for a few years but she has moved on and out of the immediate diving community. Super promotion, if anyone's interested; good for her. It was long deserved. Anyway, she did a great job when I was unavailable but now she hasn't really got the time. Only 36 hours in a day, you know.

Irish is right - the shitbirds reveal themselves as soon as they open their mouths. Problem is they never realise that themselves. And I got to say it Irish, Mayo does have a say. Maybe just a little brother say, but so long as he keeps his head screwed on right... Problem seems to be that the bullshit filter you mention doesn't work so well for a lot. That's a pity.
Anyway, back to moderators. Maybe it's time to enlist a few from the community. Since I'm only the janitor here, let me suggest a few qualifications and let's work out a set of requirements for moderators.

-Must be a diver-
It is the Diver's Forum, after all. Inland or offshore is fine - get a lot of visits here from our inland brothers.

-Must not be in a position of corporate responsibility higher than dive supervisor-
No suits. Don't need nobody looking out for purely corporate interests on the forum. (See email posted below)

-Must demonstrate a love of and respect for the industry-
We'll figure you out pretty quickly if you don't.

-Has to know diving-
Naturally.

-Must be a registered user for at least a year-
Long enough? And don't think all your previous posts won't get read through.

I'm also thinking that moderators should have at least a couple of email recomendations and I'd sure like to meet face to face before handing over the keys. Be a good time to have a drink or three.

Moderators will be able to:
Make administrative posts
Remove any message
Ban or un-ban users

Moderators will NOT:
Be able to change the board appearance
Be able to access user's registration ID email addresses

What do you think? If you guys agree that more moderators would be a good thing, and we want to do this, I'll put a post at the top of the board and we'll get started on the requirements.

Please add your comments to this thread. You can email me direct-like if you want to, but I think discussion should be for all to take part in."  (Except Carson & anyone else who tells the truth about Bev).
